Labor groups from various industries express support for Presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong Marcos, Jr. of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).
An official statement with the All Workers Alliance Trade Unions (AWATU) and the Confederation of Labor and Allied Social Services (CLASS) said that the names of Marcos and Duterte appeared prominent with the consultation of their groups.
''The AWATU labor federation officials and members are giving our full support to Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates former Senator Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos, Jr. and Mayor Sarah Duterte in the forthcoming national election in May this year," according to Labor leader Tim Dejon Jr., National President of AWATU.
According to Dejon Jr., many of their members are hopeful and believe that the tandem of Marcos and Duterte can help our country to return to its normal state due to the pandemic.
"We believe they possess the needed leadership, track record, and strength of character to rally, inspire and unite most of our people out of the current crisis," added Dejon Jr.
Moreover, CLASS-TUCP National President Concepepcion Dodd, avers that Marcos and Duterte have the quality of leadership, experience, and ample knowledge on the issues they will face when they take the oath of office if elected.
"The ordinary workers saw in former Senator Marcos and Mayor Sarah that they understand the dire circumstances of workers and their families and know how things get done to address them. These are the primary reasons why both Bongbong and Inday Sarah resonate with our union members from all the other candidates," enthused Dodd.
AWATU and CLASS are allies of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), the largest labor organization in our country with almost half-million members and the biggest Labor Confederations in the Philippines today headed by Congressman Raymond Democrito Mendoza, Jr., currently the President of TUCP.
