NAYONG PILIPINO FOUNDATION CELEBRATES THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY WITH EXHIBITS AND FANFARE

Nayong Pilipino 50th Anniversary Exhibit Registered More Than 10k Visitors                        NFP Executive Director Gertie Duran-Batocabe during the opening reception of the exhibit.

MANILA – The Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) 50th-anniversary exhibit, entitled “KALOOBAN" has welcomed over 10,000 guests during its two-week run at the IVC Teatro, Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila, according to the data from the Marketing and Operations of the NPF.

The exhibit held recently featured a rich collection of ethnographic artifacts from various ethnolinguistic groups, from textiles, personal ornaments, ritual items, hunting and warfare, and domestic objects, which the Foundation has treasured and cared for in the last five decades.

According to NPF Executive Director Gertie Duran-Batocabe, the exhibition was the celebration of the Filipino values of “malasakit” and “malikhain” as spotlights the unique and skilled craftsmanship of indigenous groups from different “Nayon” in the country.

“This exhibit, a representation of the NPF’s vast collection of more than 3,000 heritage pieces, comes at a most auspicious time as we stand at the crossroads where old and historical facts struggle to be relevant amidst an ever-dynamic world,” she said.

“The founding of the Nayong Pilipino Foundation fifty years ago was carved on this same cornerstone and is ultimately driven by its mission to “celebrate cultural heritage, Filipino diversity, and creativity as a social and economic force for national development,” she added.

This exhibit has played a critical role in developing and engaging the general public’s understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the safeguarding and dissemination of history, culture, and the legacies of our forebears. It also encouraged the public to come together to conserve and protect our country’s rich colonial heritage.

The NPF, an attached agency of the Department of Tourism (DOT) was founded under Presidential Decree no. 37s. 1972, signed by former President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr., which is primarily mandated to promote, espouse, and initiate research and development projects on social sciences, humanities, and other related fields.

Aside from the exhibit, the agency is set to conduct its 2nd Research Summit on November 22-24, 2022 with the theme “Kultura para sa Likas-Kayang Pag-unlad”. The summit which will be held at the National Library of the Philippines will zero in on the critical importance of culture in driving sustainable and inclusive governance at both local and national levels.

The agency is also hosting a symbolic tree planting activity with the National Parks Development Committee on November 29, 2022, at the NPF property in the Entertainment City, Parañaque.

Meanwhile, to promote cycling tourism in Metro Manila, the agency is set to bare the NPF Bike Trail that will transverse from NPF Property and nearby areas in Parañaque City, in partnership with DOT-NCR and the City Government of Parañaque on December 4, 2022. (VerGarciaBlogs)

BLOGGING 101 -POINTERS FOR COMPOSING AN EFFECTIVE SENTENCE PATTERN

SIMPLE GUIDE TO A SUBJECT AND VERB AGREEMENT

A Horse Drawn - Painting Exhibits at SGI Phils.

Subject and Verb Agreement:
Teacher: Virginia Bautista
1. When the subject of a sentence is composed of two or more nouns or pronouns connected by AND, use a Plural verb.
Ex. Beth and Wilma are sisters.
2. When two or more singular nouns or pronouns are connected by OR or NOR, use a Singular verb.
Ex. The bad weather or flood is the reason for the suspension of classes.
3. A compound subject containing both a singular and a plural noun or pronoun, or pronoun joined by OR or NOR, the verb should agree with the nearest subject.
ex. A cup of coffee or slices of bread anybody not what Cynthia wants for snacks.
4. Do not be misled by a phrase that comes between the subject and the verb. The verb agrees with the subject, not with a noun or pronoun in the phrase.
Ex. None of the applicants is certain to be hired for the position.
5. The words each, each one, either, neither, everyone, everybody, anyone, nobody, somebody, someone, and no one are singular and require a singular verb.
Ex. Neither of the boys is coming with us.
Everyone enjoys the dinner.
6. Nouns such as civics, mathematics, dollars, measles, and news require singular verbs.
Ex. The news does not sound interesting.
Mathematics requires deep analysis.
7. Time, distance, and money require a singular form of the verb.
Ex. Five hundred pesos is not enough for me to buy grocery items in the mall.
8. In sentences beginning with 'there is or there are', the subject follows the verb. Since 'there is not the subject, the verb agrees with what follows.
Ex. There are many questions raised about the new invention.
9. Collective nouns are words that imply more than one person but are considered singular and take a singular verb, such as group, team, committee, class, and family.
Ex. The red team is always winning.
The committee formulates new guidelines for the department.
10. Sometimes modifiers will get between a subject and its verb, but these modifiers must not confuse the agreement between the subject and its verb.
Ex. The seminar which aims to strengthen the work ethics of the employees; is scheduled this morning.
A VISUAL ART DONE IN AN AMAZING RUBBERIZED PAINTING.

11. Fractional Expressions such as half of, a part of, a percentage of, or a majority of are sometimes singular and sometimes plural, depending on the meaning.
Ex. Half of the students are attending the seminar.
12. The relative pronouns (who, whom, which and that) are either singular or plural, depending on the words they refer to.
Ex. The UP contestants are students who perform well in the singing competition.
13. The phrase A Number always takes a plural form of the verb and The Number requires a singular form of the verb.
Ex. A number of the participants come from the National Capital Region.
14. Adjectives used as nouns always take a plural form of the verb.
Ex. Only the strong survive.
15. Some subjects with AND may be considered as one. In such cases, the verb is singular.
Ex. Bread and butter is a common breakfast for Filipinos.
16. In subjects with EITHER OR or NEITHER NOR, the verb should agree with the nearest subject.
Ex. Neither the students nor the teacher knows that the classes are suspended tomorrow.
17. Proper nouns including titles of books, movies, plays, films, and operas are generally considered singular even if they are in plural form.
Ex. Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite plays.
18. The word All should not create confusion. Just remember that if the noun that "All" modifies is non-countable, then the verb to be used is singular. But, if "All" modifies a count noun which is in plural form, then the verb must agree with the subject.
Ex. All Filipino physicians go to the USA to practice their profession.
All of my life is spent loving you.
19. Phrases and clauses that function as a subject usually require a singular form of the verb.
Ex. Texting while driving is a dangerous thing to do.
20. Don't forget that the verb agrees with the subject noun, never with the predicate noun.
Ex. Joanne's expensive books are a valuable asset. (VerGarciaBlogs)

POINTERS IN CREATING A SIMPLE ARTICLE...

HOW TO WRITE AN EFFECTIVE ARTICLE The Happiest Koi Done with Bare Palm Painting

By: Speech Club International

An effective article should incorporate a concise and simple style of writing to convey the subject matter clearly to the reader. It is one that creates a vivid impression and explains the message in easy-to-understand language. It also entails the use of correct grammar and appropriate tenses. One should avoid the use of unclear vocabulary and long sentences that might confuse the reader.

A good article mainly employs the active voice to give the text immediacy. The active voice also creates engaging content that tends to have a conversational tone. It reveals the writer as informed and an authority on the subject. Due to the relative length of the story, this kind of treatment should have the power and quality to grip the mind of the reader to the very last line. Its ease tends to point to the reader that what they are reading is reliable and well researched and hence educative.

The Best of Koi

A comprehensive article is one that uses a minimal number of paragraphs depending on its overall length. This means that the theme being treated should be divided into several paragraphs that relate to the whole. A good paragraph should be based on a thematic and topical approach to the main topic. Each paragraph should be a development of an idea in a logical stream that the reader can be able to follow easily. To achieve the effect, it deals with one idea at a time.

One should also use a relevant title that reflects in one short phrase the whole meaning of the story. It acts as a lead to the topic. For a title to be an effective cap for an article it should contain a keyword that is used inside the story most often. This enables the reader to keep revisiting the topic as they make out the story as it develops. A good article uses the last paragraph as a summary. It creates a vivid understanding of what one has just read in the preceding sentences. (VerGarciaBlogs)
