The National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council of the Department of Labor in the Philippines recently designated TUCP Vice-President Temistocles Dejon Jr. as the Newly Appointed Member joins the Filipino people in commemorating the 161st birthday anniversary of First President, Gat Andres Bonifacio, the Great Plebean and Father of the Philippine Revolution. As a distinguished worker and laborer, Bonifacio was a symbol of the courage and determination of the working class in the face of challenges and oppression of the poor.

On this historic occasion, the TUCP-AWATU honors the resilience of millions of Filipino workers, both inside and outside the country, who continue to receive fair treatment, equal opportunity, and the promotion of dignity. Workers are the backbone of our country, contributing immensely to our economy and society despite the continuing challenges of poverty, inequality, and oppression.

'The National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (NTIPC) is the main consultative and advisory body mechanism lodged with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) functions primarily as a consultative body where the social partners – labor, employers, and government – are provided a venue to discuss relevant policy issuances on labor and employment. Representatives for the labor and employer sectors are appointed by the President, through the nomination of their respective sectors and the Secretary of Labor, while representatives from other government agencies are called depending on the issues at hand.

Bonifacio's life reminds us that the struggle for freedom and justice does not end with political freedom. True freedom can be enjoyed when every Filipino lives a life far from poverty and discrimination.

In consonance with Bonifacio's heroism, thus fulfilling secured employment for all that guarantees decent wages and better working conditions is close to the heart of the workers and their families as it satisfies the needs of everyone including businesses and the economy. A satisfied workforce will lead to an increase in productivity and contribute to a healthy and stable economy as workers have more money to consume in the market.

"It is imperative to seek multi-partisan support on the pending bill on workers’ rights to security of tenure filed by the TUCP at the lower house as an enabling right to organize and to collectively bargain for better terms and conditions. The Jollibee Group named as one of the “World’s Best Companies” for two consecutive years by the prestigious TIME Magazine.

The Jollibee Group continues to strengthen its global standing after being included in TIME Magazine’s prestigious “World’s Best Companies” list for two consecutive years.

Key dimensions of the ranking

According to the global data and business intelligence platform Statista, companies were assessed based on three key dimensions, namely employee satisfaction, revenue growth, and sustainability transparency or Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). The scores of all three dimensions were added on an equal percentage basis to form the final ranking score of a maximum of 100 points. The 1,000 companies with the highest score were awarded as the World’s Best Companies of 2024.

The Jollibee Group received a score of 84.81 or “very high” mark for revenue growth. The Company’s net income rose 16% to PHP8.8 billion in 2023, while total revenues marked a 15.2% increase to PHP244.1 billion. Its systemwide sales hit PHP343.32 billion, an all-time high record with a 16.3% increase.
