There is Only Now

Being present lets us experience each moment in our lives in a way that cannot be fully lived through memory or fantasy.
It's easy to go through life on autopilot, rarely truly being present. While many dwell on the past or anticipate the future, it’s physically impossible to live anywhere but the present. We can't step out and turn back to May to December 2010. Still, we often overlook the future we wait for as it turns into the present, which we’re too busy to notice. Consequently, we spend our time playing catch-up with the fleeting moment we missed. In such times, remembering that only now exists is crucial. To feel more at home in the present, we should stay aware, open, and receptive.

When we start focusing our attention on the present moment, it can feel almost overwhelming to simply be here. There is a stillness that unfolds, which may take some getting used to, and the usual mental chatter that pulls us into our heads and away from the now reduces. We might feel a loss of control because we aren’t preoccupied with planning, evaluating, or looking ahead. Instead, being present calls for us to be adaptable, creative, attentive, and spontaneous. Every moment is entirely new, unlike any that have come before or will come again. As you go through your day, remember to stay present in each moment. By doing so, you'll live your life fully without waiting for the future or longing for the past. Life unfolds for us when we actively engage with it, now!
