Bangkok - Manila. VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific Co., Ltd.is the
leading market platform in the Laboratory industry and it runs exhibitions and conferences in ASEAN, providing a network of more than 20,000 industry professionals per year. Thailand LAB INTERNATIONAL is the annual trade exhibition and conference on analytical laboratory equipment & technology, biotechnology & life sciences and chemical and safety equipment. For the 9^th edition, the exhibition space is larger and the organizer has decided to separate the halls to focus on life sciences and biotechnology namely ‘BIO Investment Asia’ in EH104, which will be held from 25-27 September 2019 at EH 102-104, BITEC, Bangkok, Thailand.

Since, our vision is to expand and stimulate the LAB technology industry in the Asia region, the Philippines is one of our countries in focus this year. From the research, the Philippines medical equipment market remains a lucrative one for USA suppliers. Highly dependent on imports, the market continues to expand at a steady pace. Medical equipment is almost 100% imported, as are approximately 50% of medical disposables. Local production is limited to prototype units, spare parts (including improvised parts), and disposables such as surgical gloves, syringes, and needles.

The major factors impacting demand are population growth and hospital expansion and upgrading. Hospitals base their buying decisions on quality, but above all, on price, so the Philippines is participating in the ASEAN Medical Device Regulatory Harmonization Workshop, which is part of an ongoing initiative to improve and standardize the medical device regulatory process in the region. This shows that the Philippines is eager to develop laboratory and medical equipment and biotechnology, and is developing new technology and innovations for domestic use.
