AWATU-TUCP APPEALS TO EMPLOYERS TO GIVE AND PRIORITIZE CHRISTMAS BONUS AND 13TH MONTH PAY TO BOOST ECONOMY

Labor Group Pushes For The Full Payment of Workers 13th Month Pay And Christmas Bonus To Stimulate Economic Growth
AWATU-TUCP, President Temistocles Dejon, Jr stresses a point about the 13th month pay stimulus.


The All Workers Alliance Trade Union (AWATU) an affiliate labor federation of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) pushes for the full payment of workers 13th month pay and providing Christmas bonus to stimulate the country's economic recovery amid the Covid-19 pandemic. AWATU-TUCP President Temistocles Dejon. Jr. said that based on economic data, around 60% of the Philippines gross domestic product (GDP) is derived derived from consumption-related economic activities which are heavily affected by the ongoing health crisis. "By giving the full amount of workers 13th month pay and providing Christmas bonus, millions of workers and their families will have money to spend for their needs and other expenses, thereby increasing consumption as the engine of country's economic growth and recovery." said Dejon.
