DMBCLU-AWATU MAKES HISTORY IN WINNING THE ELECTION AT DEL MONTE PHILIPPINES, INC.

Labor leader and AWATU- All Workers Alliance Trade Union  & TUCP Vice-President and AWATU's National President Temistocles S. Dejon, Jr. (Right) stresses a point in the just concluded labor meeting.

A trade union is an association of workers forming a legal unit or legal personhood, usually called a "bargaining unit", which acts as bargaining agent and legal representative for a unit of employees in all matters of law or right arising from or in the administration of a collective agreement. In this respect, All Workers Alliance Trade Unions (AWATU-TUCP), has a big responsibility put in their shoulders and this will redound to the good labor and economic landscape of our country and its people. In their news update bulletin, AWATU's National President Temistocles Dejon, Jr., disclosed that recently on October 22, 2019, in a hotly contested local election of officers of its biggest affiliate the Bugo Cannery Labor Union All Workers Alliance Trade Unions (DMBCLU-AWATU) Del Monte Phils., Inc., Bugo Cagayan De Oro City, Phils., incumbent union local President Mr. Rollen L. Rocha, won by landslide victory for 3rd Five Year Term as Union President against his Three (3) rival President candidate, with his complete slate winning in the same political exercise.

Meanwhile,  AWATU-TUCP, National President, Temistocles S. Dejon, Jr., further disclosed that recently, the DMBCLU AWATU has removed its Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for 5 years on September 20, 2019, with Del Monte Philippines, Inc. as partner thus maintaining industrial peace in the cannery wherein the last certification election was in 1988 or 31 years ago in the making as clear example of true partnership between management and labor.

In addition, the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), the TUCP with 480,000 strong members is the biggest confederation of labor federations in the Philippines both in membership and in a number of Collective Bargaining Agreements. It was founded on December 14, 1975, by 23 labor federations which saw the necessity and importance of uniting themselves into a strong and dynamic labor center.
